We have a large family and purchased this home to be welcoming to family gatherings. Within walking distance to *RMNP and the YMCA of the Rockies**, it has a great location and our frequent visitors include local wildlife. Sick of the traffic in and out of the park during the summer? Walk into the park and climb aboard the RMNP free shuttle bus to many great hikes and picnic locations! We are also within 3 miles of downtown and during the summer months you can hop on the Estes Park Shuttle for a stress free visit to the local shops and restaurants.

This is an open floor plan with 3 stories. The Main floor consists of a large kitchen with utensils, and a dining room table that seats 10. Just off the kitchen is the family room with two couches and gas fireplace and a picturesque view of Long’s Peak. Equipped with Wireless Internet service, a large, flat screen TV with DIRECTV Satellite Service and DVD, this room provides the comforts of your own home.
This level also has the Master bedroom w/King Bed, flat screen TV w/ DIRECTV Satellite Service and DVD, spacious master bath with jetted tub, the utility room with half bath, washer/dryer, and access to the 600sf new wrap around deck. On the REBUILT deck is a propane grill and 2 picnic tables.
Upstairs are two bedrooms, one w/Queen and twin beds, the other with a King bed, and between the rooms a full bath.
The Bottom floor has large, community sleeping area (we call it the dorm room') with a queen, twin and trundle beds and a full bath. New heating system installed downstairs in 2009.
Please check our list of beds to determine your use.
**The house is located 1/2 mile from the YMCA, 3 miles from downtown, with 5 minute access to the Big Thompson River and 20 min walking distance to Moraine Park in RMNP.
*Rocky Mountain National Park has over 350 miles of hiking trails, with over half above tree line. Trail Ridge Road is the highest continuous paved road in the U.S. reaching 12,200 ft above sea level in its 20 mile stretch across the tundra.
Our neighborhood is quiet and a few hundred yards from the boundary to RMNP.
Hiking, fishing, biking, and wildlife abound.
Testimonials
we would recommend this property to anyone! Has all the amenities you could want including washer and dryer so we could keep up with laundry during the week. We were two families of seven total and had plenty of room not even using the lower dorm room. If we had happened to have a rainy wash out day where we would needed to have stayed in there were games, books and movies as well as countless books and materials on wildlife and history and points of interest in the area. The property is very close to downtown Estes Park (can hop the shuttle if you don't want to drive) YMCA and Rocky Mountain National Park is almost in the backyard! Beautiful view of Longs Peak! The Big Thompson runs right across the street. Planning on a return visit in 2017!
The Beary Happy Cabin hosted our best family vacation with a great place for home base as we explored Estes Park, Boulder and the Rocky Mountain National Park! Our 50th Anniversary was celebrated with children, spouses and 7 grandchildren from Cincinnati, Boulder, Tucson and Edinboro, PA. At the end of the week, our grandchildren received their Junior Ranger Badges at the Beaver Meadows Visitor Center close by. We enjoyed the spacious, open floor plan with lots of room for family time with games, meals at three large tables in the kitchen and on the porch and sleeping arrangements on three floors. Since our son has climbed the diamond of Longs Peak, the awesome view of this mountain from the cabin was very special. We were warmly welcomed by the neighbors who also invited us to come again on the last day of our vacation. We are so thankful that Randy shared his lovely cabin with us and appreciated his quick responses to email questions. Happy trails to all who come to visit in the future!
